2002, the spectrum liberalisation process
has continued and MCom now has the ability and experience
to offer
solutions
combining
the best from the data, voice and wireless worlds,
using both unlicensed (WiFi/WiMax) and licensed spectrums
(GSM) coupled with the assets
of an Internet Service provider. With
the founders continued focus on “Bridging the divide
between corporate culture and entrepreneurial spirit”,
MCom continues to provide innovative connectivity solutions.
Highlights
in the company history:
October 2002 - Company founded to focus on the emerging ip and
wireless market.
December
2002 - MCom signs condition precedent contract with Texaco
for its UK forecourt wireless rights.
February
2003 - MCom acquired the assets of Forecourt Television Limited,
also known as FTV. FTV had a network of advertising
screens
on a selection of petrol station forecourts, among them Texaco.
MCom has exclusive rights to develop and manage a commercial
infrastructure for the provision of Public Wireless LAN Access
Points (WiFi Hotspots)
onf the retailer’s forecourts.
September 2003 - MCom agrees a contract with T-Mobile
UK, to offer a W-LAN service in selected Texaco service stations
across the
UK. The deal, a first for the UK, will see the T-Mobile HotSpot
service on offer to business people on the road, up and down the
country, keeping them ‘connected’ while out of the
office.
October
2003 - MCom appointed to provide wireless connectivity at Pennyhill
Park Hotel, part of the Exclusive Hotel Group. Pennyhill
Park offers a sumptuous 5 star surrounding in which to conduct
business meetings.
January
2004 - MCom completes the first phase of T-Mobile WiFi hotspots
on Texaco froecourts
June
2004 - Delivers on time and on budget the 2nd and third phase
of T-Mobile WiFi hotspots
